Advocacy: Advancing Priorities at the State and Federal Level Advocacy: Advancing Priorities at the State and Federal Level

Want to help shape the industry but not sure where to start? This session lays out clear, accessible ways to plug into association work, grassroots advocacy, and professional lobbying—without diving into policy minutiae. Learn what meaningful participation looks like in Lansing and on Capitol Hill, and how to align your time, resources, and voice with the moments that matter.

Join Bryan Barash (Vice President, Marketing, Partnerships & External Affairs, Dutchie), Saphira Galoob (Executive Director, United States Cannabis Roundtable), and Robin Schneider (Executive Director, Michigan Cannabis Industry Association) for a practical, big-picture conversation on getting involved and staying engaged.

We’ll touch on:

  • Where associations fit & how members contribute
  • Effective engagement with legislators and staff
  • Coalitions, storytelling & community presence
  • Basic do’s and don’ts with public officials
  • How advocacy is funded (dues, events, sponsorships, PACs) and why dependable support sustains the work
  • Shared commitment, shared progress: the industry moves faster when everyone contributes—whether through time, dues, or helpful introductions
